Terms of Service.

matcher is a skills-first job matching product in active (and receptive) development,
which means features may change and bugs may occur.

matcher’s purpose is to help you find roles that overlap with your skillsets, and that’s it;
responsibility for applying, tracking, and prepping for the rest of the painstaking job search remains with you.

We’ll be making a reasonable effort to keep matcher available,
and a more-than-reasonable effort to ensure your data is protected as described by our Privacy Policy.

To use matcher, you need an account. You’re responsible for what actions your account takes;
if you think someone else has access to it (and you don’t want them to), feel free to email us.

To use the product successfully for its intended purpose,
you’ll need to provide accurate information, but can choose to omit or obfuscate anything you’d like.

The more we understand what skills you can perform, the better the match quality will be.
Things like work history and job preferences also help with matching.

matcher is for building a profile of skills and browsing the jobs you’ve been matched with.
Anything beyond those two uses is considered out of product scope.

You agree not to:

• Try to collect the data that we use through any means, other than as provided by us.
• Attempt to bypass any of our security measures, including feature gates, rate limits, and access controls.
• Use the deep-read feature for any seeming purpose other than describing yourself in your own words.
• Interfere with the service or attempt to access other user data.
• Attempt to exploit a vulnerability or otherwise compromise matcher’s codebase or infrastructure.

We can pause or terminate any account that violates these terms, or that we reasonably believe is abusing the service.

If you found a security issue, please bring it to our attention and we’ll fix it quickly.

matcher doesn’t make hiring decisions, and no employer uses it to screen or evaluate candidates.
It does not use protected characteristics (such as race, gender, age, or disability) to include, exclude, or rank a match.

If you believe any part of matcher treated you unfairly (on matches or anything else),
you can email us (below) and we’ll usually respond within 7 business days.

To see more than five matches a day, accounts require a subscription.
Payments are processed by Stripe and matcher never sees or stores card details.

Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and continue through the paid period.

For refunds, please email us and we’ll work it out.
For reasonable requests, we can refund subscription costs purchased in the last 65 calendar days.

You own whatever you write, whether it’s work history, profile skills, or additional information for the deep-read.
You give us the license we need in order to process that content and run the product.

matcher is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind.
We don’t guarantee that any match, ranking, or piece of advice is accurate or will get you a job.

To the extent the law allows, Barely Brand isn’t liable for any damages arising from your use of matcher,
and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We may update these terms as the product changes.

We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do;
continuing to use matcher after a change means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
